Diabetic Foot Screening for PNs and HCAs

This training course is for Practice Nurses and HCAs.


This training will be delivered by Gareth Beatty, Podiatrist & Diabetic Foot Training Lead, Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.


The training will:


·          Provide standardised foot screening training to HCPs in primary care across the STP. To identify Risk status and the relevant action required as defined by the pathways of care.


·          Raise awareness of requirement to inform patients of outcome of the foot screening both verbally and in writing (Leaflets available to support – see below)


·          Raise awareness of the importance of the urgency required in treating Diabetic Foot disease and identifying the correct pathway to follow, depending on the needs of the individual patient with diabetes. [A diabetic foot ulcer is regarded as a Cardio-Vascular Incident as significant as a Stroke or Heart Attack]


·          On completion of training, provide participants with a ‘footcare pack’ to assist in diabetic foot screening, to include:-


o   a monofilament testing tool


o   shatter proof examination mirror with aid memoir on back


o   CPR instruction manual (or similar for primary care).


o   Badge – “Diabetic Foot Screener” identification badge.


o   Collection of advice leaflets for patients with diabetes related to their identified risk (Low/Medium/High) and sources to download further copies to give to patients after screening


o   Raise awareness of and promote E-LfH foot screening module and on-line accredited exam and certification. This links to ESR & Professional development records by NMC/GMC Nos

Crawley Ice Rink - Dec 5th 2019 - Dec 16th 2019

Crawley’s fabulous Christmas Ice Rink is back – in a fabulous new location in Tilgate Park, just a few steps from The Smith and Western Restaurant.


The rink is open from Saturday 23rd November 2019 from 10am and will close Sunday 5th January 2020.  


Tilgate Park is a 10 minute brisk walk from Tilgate Shops and Metrobus 2 route services the shops from the town centre. On weekends and bank holidays the route 2 stops right outside our door. See metrobus timetable for times.


The new rink is open throughout the Christmas period and when Tilgate Park's Magical Christmas is open. Smith & Western will be open too for meals, snacks and hot drinks to warm you up after your skate. 


We welcome skaters of 4 years and upwards and our helpful skate aids are available for hire on all sessions for the wobblier youngsters.

FAQs


What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?


There is parking available at the hotel. This is free as long as you register your car registration in the system on arrival on the machines in the lobby areas, please aim to do this before the event starts if possible to avoid any complications.


Please do not pay for parking at the outside machines in the car park, as we may not be able to secure a refund for you.


The hotel is easy to access from Gatwick Airport if you are travelling by train, there are taxis and a shuttle bus option available.


Please note :


We are offering this event free of charge to you,  but it is not free for us to run. We will cater for and plan the event based on the number of people registered on Eventbrite, so if you are unable to attend and cannot send a replacement, please either cancel your ticket via Eventbrite or email kssahsn.events@nhs.net at least a week before the event to avoid wasting food and materials. This will give us time to offer your place to someone on the waiting list. There will be a £50 charge for any no shows on the day.
