MAKING A DIFFERENCE: The powerful role of the early years practitioner in connecting with parents and supporting resilience.

As the rates of mental health difficulties rise, there is a national interest in understanding what can be done to build resilience and prevent emotional problems in children and families.

Early Years Practitioners have a pivotal role to play in growing and supporting resilience and security and yet it often feels challenging to recognise what can be achieved simply through building supportive connections with parents and families.

The broad aim of this training session is to provide early years practitioners with some key facts, based on the latest research, which proves that coming alongside parents/carers, developing the supportive network around families and working in partnership really does make a big difference to the outcomes for that child.

Suitable for Early Years practitioners and individuals working within the voluntary sector with young children and their families.

  • Gain an understanding of the key facts about the impact of adverse childhood experiences on development, behaviour, emotions and health.

  • Learn what is meant by the term ‘developmental trauma’

  • Find out about the way in which early experiences impact on the developing brain and body

  • Understand how the support which you are offering parents and carers can help to promote healthy brain development and resilience.
