This training is provided by Caring For Care and is 50% funded by the Mid-Downs Training Hub.


This ear care training is aimed at providing new skills for HCAs.


Ear Irrigation Training Course Summary



  • Anatomy and physiology

  • How to examine the ear

  • Common ear problems & foreign bodies

  • Complications

  • Risk assessing

  • Infection control

  • Documentation and record keeping

  • Ear irrigation (syringing)

  • Extended practical session to include stimulated competency


On completion delegates will be able to demonstrate awareness of ear irrigation techniques, they will understand how to effectively examine an ear using an otoscope.


They will be able to demonstrate best practice in dealing with common and minor ear problems.
