Crawley 290118 - Bereavement & Loss in Primary Aged Children (for people working with children & young people)

This is a half day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.

This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex MindYMCA Downslink Group and West Sussex County Council.


  • Consider how children mourn differently to adults

  • Understanding children’s comprehension of death

  • Understand our own response; how we grieve, how children & young people grieve and how we can respond to the event/disclosure

  • Recognise changes in a child’s behaviour

  • Understand what support is available to bereaved children and what resources we can access

Getting to the Venue

It is a 5 minute walk from the Crawley train station and bus station.

Timings and breaks

The course runs from 1:30pm - 4:30pm. There will be one refreshment break mid-afternoon.


Tea and coffee will be provided mid-afternoon. A caffeine-free option will be available.

Registration fee

Your £10 registration fee for this course helps towards the additional venue and refreshment costs. This is a non-refundable fee.


Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend the course. As this is a funded programme our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up. Early notification may mean we can offer this space to someone on our waiting list.
