FREE Jump Rope (Skipping) Class

FREE Jump Rope (Skipping) Class

Posted on behalf of On The Ropes

Based off the popularity of the jump rope classes we've been running in London, we have decided to run more and will be trialling classes in Crawley, starting this Saturday 13th January at 12pm. This is a different take on high intensity interval classes with the added benefit of developing your jump rope skills.

Class Format

The class is interval based, each interval lasting between 90 seconds and 2 minutes 30 seconds. These will alternate between 1 interval with the rope which would usually focus on a specific technique, a short rest period and then an interval of bodyweight exercises with focus on a particular movement pattern or muscle group.
Some intervals may focus on group exercises or involve the use of training equipment designed to enhance biomotor abilities.

As a result, you get a high intensity workout but a lot more enjoyable, all the while developing a beneficial skill and improved movement.

We begin with a warm up of dynamic stretching and activation exercises, move into the intervals and then cool down with some core stability work and static stretching.

The class usually lasts around 50 minutes.

Suitability

These classes are suitable for beginners or experienced jumpers alike. We have had people who have never picked a rope up before to professional athletes who are well acqauinted with a jump rope.

All fitness levels and ages welcome. There are always alternatives demonstrated for those or don't feel comfortable or familiar with a certain exercise or movement. Do what you can at your own pace and have fun with it.

Equipment & Clothing

No need to bring your own rope, as we always keep plenty so you can borrow if you need to.
If you prefer to use your own rope, please bring it along.
General gym wear is recommended although not too loose or baggy in case the rope catches.
Long hair should be tied back and if perhaps long sleeves in case you're worried about the rope catching your arms.
Trainers will good forefoot support are recommended although most trainers will be fine.
