 ‘Spotlighting Objects in Your Collection’

This session will look at ways museums and organisations can ‘spotlight’ certain objects or collections. Spotlighting objects can be an easy and simple way of highlighting the wonders of your collection, as well as attracting new and old audiences.

From using objects on social media, small pop-up exhibitions both inside the museum and ‘on the road’, finding out more about your collection through loans, or using objects in retail and art, this session will show you a myriad of ways to really make a favourite object shine, as well as increasing audience reach, footfall and even income.

There will be a selection of speakers from local museums who will speak about the projects they have been involved in, and will give you ideas as to how you can best use your collection!

Speakers to include Jan Etches from Brighton Toy and Model Museum, Jo Seaman from Eastbourne Heritage, Amanda Harwood from the Novium Museum, Rob Symmons from Fishbourne Roman Palace, and more!

There will also be an opportunity to have a tour around the brand new Crawley Museum with Curator Helen Poole. If you are interested in this, please sign up by emailing the Secretary Portia Tremlett at

Lunch will be provided.
